Following the success of the Bar Mock Trial, St John's College entered an additional law-based competition called a Moot, hosted by Oxford University Law graduates. Hiya Ray and Luke Samra were given the facts of a civil case and had to prepare a skeleton argument on why there were grounds for an appeal. The students spent many hours reading and researching cases to understand the legality surrounding definitions to find a legal precedent.
This was followed up by an online presentation against a fellow independent Cardiff school where students had to present their case and answer interjections by the judge. Hiya and Luke were absolutely superb in how they delivered their speeches as well as answering the judge's questions. Hiya and Luke won their opening heat and are looking forward to submitting their second round entry on Sunday 2nd April, where they hope to win a place in the semi-final at Cardiff University Law School.
Miss Sanders and I wish them the best of luck with their preparation.
