St John’s College, Cardiff is a co-educational, 3-18 independent school with a Catholic ethos. We welcome pupils from all faiths, or none, and encourage the whole school community to be the best it can be.
Our school motto, Ubi amor, ibi oculus, which translates to “where there is love, there is vision” embodies everything that we do; we aim to approach all our work from the heart.
St John’s College is a family school. With average class sizes of fewer than 16 pupils, small year groups and a stable, committed staff, all pupils are treated as individuals and not just a number. Each child is known and loved as a unique person and is supported through their St John’s journey from the age of 3 to the time when they leave us for University.
Academic success is a strong feature of our school, however, it’s not just about achieving the highest grades. Every pupil is nurtured and supported through their educational journey, regardless of ability, and pupils on average, achieve 1.5 grades higher than they are predicted at both GCSE and A level. Pupils are encouraged to be independent thinkers and well-rounded learners. Our vast co-curricular programme, wide-ranging opportunities in sport, music, drama and chess, and our emphasis on personal development and being a good person all contribute to pupils’ development as meaningful citizens.
During the COVID pandemic, we were immensely proud of our remote learning provision which was widely praised throughout the school community.
If you are looking for outstanding teaching and learning within a nurturing and caring, family environment, where every child is known and valued individually, then the St John’s approach from the heart is for you.
