F1 in Schools is a non-profit organisation that was founded in the UK in 1999. The main concept of the competition is to design, manufacture, test and race small, gas-powered F1™ cars that can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in under one second. However, teams are not only judged on their design work and speed of their car, but also on verbal presentations, engineering and manufacturing interviews and pit displays.
St John's College has participated in F1 in Schools since 2012 and our teams have enjoyed considerable success regionally, nationally and on the world stage. Infinity Racing qualified for the world finals in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and Team Blackout was second at the World Finals in 2022. Now, Team Firestorm are heading to the World Finals in Singapore in September 2023.
