Our most recent Junior Book Club was focused on the experiences of being an evacuee in World War Two looking at The Lion and the Unicorn by Shirley Hughes and Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll.
Huge congratulations to Bute for winning the former, and to both Mostyn and St David's who we declared first equal in the latter. All were as exuberantly enthusiastic as we have come to expect!
Next time we will look at the harsh realities of life for homeless children on the streets of Victorian London. Street Child by Berlie Doherty is aimed at the more confident reader and we have a variety of sensitively abridged versions of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, making it suitable for all.
Our next Junior Book Club will take place during Period 7 on Tuesday 23rd May. As ever, any child who has read the book, had it read to them or listened to the audiobook is welcome to attend.
Happy reading!
Mr R Dennis
