R8 had a great day exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park as part of their Geography studies.
The first stop was near Craig y Dinas and included watching a group of rock climbers and going on a woodland walk alongside the river ending at Sgwd yr Eira. Along the way, Mr Dennis pointed out many interesting things and even told stories about King Arthur! After lunch at the National Park Visitor Centre, the last stop was near Pen y Fan where R8 saw examples of dry stone walling, forestry and well-maintained footpaths.
The trip gave them a good understanding of the park's size, jobs and tourism in the area and the work undertaken to keep the park safe for its users.
Highlights mentioned by various pupils included “the walking”, “seeing all the mountains and landscapes”, "seeing the baby lambs from the coach", "going in the little cave" and of course, “eating lunch!”
