It has been just over two weeks since Team Firestorm returned from Singapore, and this didn’t just bring the end of the World Finals competition, but the end of our team’s 4-year F1 In Schools journey. Starting as a team of 5 in R12 (2019), we have worked tirelessly to overcome any and all challenges that have been thrown our way, from rule changes to a global pandemic!
Competing against the best and brightest teams from around the world, we demonstrated our innovation and teamwork in front of the judges on the global stage. Each day of competition included a range of things to do, from judging interviews to racing! However, the F1 in Schools World Finals has offered us a lot more than just competing, such as all the new friends we have made along the way from other teams. We also managed to explore the sights in Singapore itself, including Marina Bay Sands and even the Grand Prix Circuit!
The experience gained from this journey is invaluable, and we couldn't be prouder of our achievement of 26th place out of the 68 competing teams from around the world. We would like to thank all of our sponsors such as Celsa Group and Edwards - and of course, the parents, teachers and students who have supported us along the way to proudly represent Wales and St John’s College. A big thank you especially to Mrs Crowley-Davies and Mrs Bate from the DT department, who have supported us on our entire journey. We look forward to passing on our new experiences to the next generation of F1 in Schools teams.
