In August, Cameron N in R14 came 3rd in the last race of the European Trophy at Lonato in Italy. This, along with his 3rd place in Le Mans during July, gave him an invitation to display his talents at the World Grand Finals in Sarno Italy, just over a week ago. For the World Grand Finals, you cannot just pay and enter – you have to be invited and to do this, you have to win a championship or come very close to winning championships.
He attended along with another 400 top-class drivers from 60 different countries in 8 different categories.
In Cameron's category (Junior), he was up against 72 of the world's finest.
Qualifying – Cameron was the fastest and placed Pole Position
Race 1 – Cameron won his race
Race 2 – Cameron won his race
Race 3 – Cameron came 3rd in his race
Pre- Final race A – Cameron won his race
After a near clean sweep, Cameron was at the top of the points board giving him pole position for the start of the final.
Final – Cameron started first and led for 6 laps before the driver in 2nd place made contact and forced Cameron off the track. Cameron came back from 9th position to 3rd position but there wasn’t enough time to get past 2nd position, so coming over the line in 3rd!
As well as making everyone proud, Cameron has impressed everyone on the world stage and has had huge media attention too. Cameron was so close to becoming World Champion and he should have been but the contact from behind is something he couldn’t control.
