On Wednesday, 11th December, our R16 Computer Science students visited the University of South Wales as part of our ongoing partnership with CyberFirst. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to gain practical insights into careers in the dynamic field of cybersecurity.
The day featured hands-on workshops where students tackled network problem-solving challenges and took part in a mock courtroom session focused on cybersecurity law. A highlight of the event was the careers fair, where students engaged directly with industry experts from leading organizations such as PureCyber, Airbus, and Bridlewell, as well as representatives from top universities specializing in cybersecurity. These conversations allowed students to learn about the skills, qualifications, and pathways needed for success in this growing sector.
The day concluded with an exhilarating "Capture the Flag" competition, where many of our students showcased their problem-solving skills by completing several technical challenges within a set timeframe. The event offered a fantastic blend of practical experience, expert advice, and real-world application, inspiring our students to explore the exciting opportunities within cybersecurity.
