On Friday 28th, Anshu V and Saathvik C (Team FX) of R14 travelled to The IET, London for the finals of the Teen Tech Awards. The judges had been very impressed with their innovation and presentation and they had made it to the final 60 out of over 1000 entries. After an early start, we arrived at Savoy Place to set up stall where Team FX laid out their presentation and digital artefacts for judges and fellow competitors to observe and find out more. Their innovation, which was a pair of smart glasses to help people diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome cope with day-to-day tasks was very well received and also helped raise awareness for a little-known condition. Although they were not overall winners, Team FX was commended for the research they had done as well as the work they had done with industry experts by reaching out to FXS Society and interviewing the managing director to find out more about how their innovation could benefit.
As the first year of entering The Teen Tech Awards for the school, we have learnt a lot, as well as recognition as a centre of innovation and we look forward to seeing the entries from next year's participants.
