Our most recent Junior Book Club was focused on the experiences of homeless children on the streets of Victorian London, looking at a sensitively abridged version of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist and Street Child by Berlie Doherty.
With nearly 100% attendance the Juniors really threw themselves into the competition with great excitement! Well done to St Davids and Bute for their respective wins!
Next time our subject will be, appropriately, Fun Summer Reading! We have selected two highly entertaining texts by Philip Reeve and illustrated by Sarah McIntyre. Pugs of the Frozen North is aimed at our more confident readers and The Adventures of Kevin - the Roly Poly Flying Pony is suitable for everyone.
Our final Junior Book Club of the year will take place during Period 7 on Wednesday 12th July. As ever, any child who has read the book, had it read to them or listened to the audiobook is welcome to attend.
Happy reading!
Mr R Dennis
