R11 Reading Group encourages our keenest and most committed readers to explore challenging and thought-provoking new books and discuss them in-depth.
On this occasion, we looked at Adeline Yen Mah’s autobiography ‘Chinese Cinderella’, her bleak but ultimately uplifting story of a neglected upbringing in post-war China. We were once again delighted by the children’s maturity, insight, depth of thought and political concerns.
Next time we will look at Michael Morpurgo’s devastating WW1 novel ‘Private Peaceful’.
