R10 braved the cold in Big Pit on Wednesday.  Wearing hard hats and head torches, they were all ready for our tour 300 feet undergound.  They loved the horse stables and were engrossed in listening to the tales about the horses’ lives in the mine.  After being on the tour, they could imagine how tough life would have been for children working in the mines.

Following our tour, we participated in a workshop about the. “Servants on the Empire”.  Highlights included Ananya dressing up as Ieuan, a trapper and Anoushka as Ffion, the Tip Girl in a flat bonnet (a style typical of South Wales).  

We finished our extremely busy day with the engaging, “King Coal” exhibition. Everybody jumped when there was a big explosion!!
