With less than 2 months left until the World Finals in Singapore, Firestorm has been working tirelessly to secure a place for Wales on the podium.
After completing our GCSEs, we shifted our focus to the project with only one goal in mind; to win. We began to work on our project deliverables and elevated our digital presence to appeal to a wider audience. Social sustainability remains a key aspect of the project as community integration is incredibly important to us. Our stall at the Friends of SJC Summer Fayre proved incredibly popular with children, parents and staff alike! We were overwhelmed by the support we received and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the school community. In addition, we sold sweets every Friday at morning break throughout the Trinity Term which has been an excellent way to raise money and awareness about the team.
Our Engineering team has been busy working on our car with our Engineering Lead spending painstaking hours on Autodesk making our final car, and we will be starting to manufacture in the next few days. Although the car is often seen as the main focus of the competition, our Enterprise sub-team have also been persevering with their tasks. We are currently working on our Pit Display, incorporating exciting elements, which are a fusion between Wales and Singapore.
Since starting in 2019, our ultimate goal has been to attend the World Finals and become World Champions, representing both Wales and our school through global achievements in STEM. Our repeated commendations, not only at the Regional but also National level, reflect our determination to fulfil this dream. We also excel in a number of initiatives, ranging from the environment to Women in STEM, which we continue to promote as we advance throughout the competition.
Despite continuous efforts to raise funds, we are struggling to reach our target and need your help. With the competition being held almost 7000 miles away in Singapore, our budget has risen dramatically to accommodate expenses such as our entry fee, flights, travel and accommodation. In addition to this, we must manufacture our car (which involves testing, printing and milling) as well as acquire team uniforms and parts for our Pit Display.
We are seeking sponsorships to help us on our journey. Partnering with us will allow you to promote your brand through our large digital presence, and provide you with an opportunity to present your company to the world. Furthermore, your association with STEM initiatives such as F1 in Schools can be an excellent way of enriching your community engagement. Our sponsorship proposal can be found on our website. If you are interested in partnering with us, you can email us at: [email protected]
Alternatively, you can help Firestorm by donating to our GoFundMe. Just £20 could contribute towards our flights, or even pay for a bearing for our wheels. https://www.gofundme.com/f/team-firestorm-f1
However you may choose to support us, we are extremely grateful for your contribution and your help would be paramount in our journey to become World Champions.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing our successes at the World Finals with you in the next newsletter and wish you all a restful summer.
