Continued Success at F1 in Schools.

Wow, what an exciting few months we have had in the DT department!

After the success of Blackout this summer, not just passing their GCSEs, but achieving second place at the World finals, we gathered to watch the virtual Regional Finals at the start of October. Our current teams sat wondering if they were able to fill some pretty large shoes.

The DT workshop was buzzing with excitement as pupils stuck their heads in to watch the live stream on YouTube and cheer on their favourite teams.

Four teams from SJC are currently competing in the 21/22 season (delayed due to COVID-19).

Airborne is our Entry Class team; Red Dawn Racing and Team Xtreme are our Development Class teams; Firestorm is our Professional team.

All the cars performed well during the racing sessions and the teams were excited about the awards show held virtually the following day. Each team had submitted an engineering and enterprise portfolio, a pit display design, and a recorded verbal presentation explaining their journey.

They needn't have had such a sleepless night, as the host kept mentioning SJC teams in the nominations. As the awards ceremony drew to an end, the cheers and excitement were infectious as both staff and pupils stopped by to listen to who would be the regional champions.

Airborne - Best Engineered Car and 1st place Entry Class

Red Dawn - Winners of Sponsorship and Marketing and Regional Development Class

Team Xtreme - Nominated for 2 awards and they took second place in Development class

Firestorm - Best Engineering and Regional Champions!
