On the 7th March, Big Band had a wonderful day trip to Bath to compete in the Mid Somerset Festival. We enjoyed a little stroll around the town before taking part in Bath Abbey’s Tower Tour. We climbed 212 spiralling steps to reach the top of the Abbey where we were treated to the spectacular sight of the Bath cityscape and surrounding countryside. We were also shown the bell-ringing chamber and learnt about the history of the bells.

Climbing those steps really worked up an appetite so we were ready for a delicious dinner where Mr Capel tested our general knowledge in a quiz!

After a short rehearsal in Hayesfield Girls’ School, our young performers were then ready to perform in front of the judges. They really did us proud with their impeccable behaviour and professionalism on stage as well as delivering a superb performance of their repertoire. We didn’t quite win the trophy but we had some fantastic feedback from the judges and audience members. Well done to all pupils involved!
