On Monday, 13th March, the R10s had a fantastic day at The Royal Mint. To begin the day, R10 became investigators and learned how to use lots of different techniques to gather evidence to decide whether a coin was a forgery or real. The children used weighing scales, magnets and magnifying glasses to make informed decisions about the coins they were given to investigate. It would seem we have some budding future detectives!
The children were then taken on an extremely interesting tour of The Royal Mint factory where they saw coins from lots of countries being made, even from somewhere as far afield as Nepal. The day culminated in each of the children striking their own coin to take home as a keepsake. One of the most interesting parts of the day was learning about the new coins that will start appearing with King Charles’ face on.
Each of the pupils was a delight to take on the trip and we had many Royal Mint staff compliment their behaviour - well done, R10. A big thank you to Mrs Thompson and Mr Dennis for their support on the trip.
