On Thursday, 2nd of May, St John’s College Cardiff had the pleasure of welcoming St George’s College North, who were touring all the way from Argentina.
We got off to a flying start of 23-8 and achieved a pleasing 15-point lead by the end of the first quarter. During the second and third quarters, we developed and maintained our lead. In the final quarter, there were many points awarded for both sides. Fortunately, the game finished with an excellent score of 43-27 in favour of St John's.
After the match ended, we had the opportunity to socialise and get to know our opponents during match tea. This was a great opportunity for pupils to learn about and share each other's cultures and experiences.

For many of us in the St John’s basketball team it was our first international match. The Argentinian team were on a tour of the UK and were playing our school as one of their matches. I thoroughly enjoyed the game as I played sometimes and helped out with some of the set up. The final score was 43 to St John’s and 29 to St George's.
Our captain was Gareth and their captain was called Wen. It was nice to be able to meet people from another country and we were able to socialise with them after the game.
I thank St John’s for the opportunity to play in this fixture and hope that we can have other similar matches in the future.
