As always, it’s been a busy term for the English Department. The first particular highlight was the Eisteddfod, when we invited pupils in R12-R14 to write poems based on the theme of ‘Welsh Weather’. Anais M in R14 is to be congratulated on her winning entry but we were delighted to read all the creative responses we received.
The beginning of March also saw us mark World Book Day. Pupils in the senior school relished the opportunity to participate in various reading-related activities, sharing their favourite books with their peers by designing posters and preparing presentations.
Most recently R14 pupils celebrated Culture Day by sharing different traditions and cultural aspects with the class. We were fascinated to hear about languages, food, dancing and music from across the world. All agreed that they had learned all sorts of interesting facts and had also honed their speaking and listening skills - very useful for GCSE!
