We learnt so much on our virtual trip to visit the Iron Age roundhouses in St Fagan’s. R8 were proud that they could answer several questions about the Celts but were curious to hear more about life as Celts. We saw a great film about Gwalchmai, the Celt, who showed us how to light a fire with a flint and dried mushrooms. It was so exciting to see the sparks!
We also learnt that they had to grind their own grain to make bread. They had to do this every day because the bread went hard if it wasn’t eaten that day. Our highlight was when we became archaeologists and looked at clues on and near a replica skeleton. We decided that because he had most of his white teeth, an iron sword and a gold bracelet, that he would have been a young, rich, male Celt.
Well done, R8! Mrs Burleton
